Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma has indirectly criticized party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, rejecting the notion that the political system depends on one individual.

Sharma Responds to Prachanda’s Remark

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Sharma said, “The earth will not shake if Sheshanag shrugs his shoulders,” in response to Prachanda’s earlier statement that everything would collapse if he left politics. Sharma added that the myth of Sheshanag holding the earth is a legend, and science has proven other reasons for earthquakes.

‘No One Is Indispensable’

Sharma clarified that politics does not revolve around a single person. “The earth will not collapse if someone leaves politics,” he said, implying that Prachanda’s claim was exaggerated. Prachanda had earlier stated that he feared the system could fall apart without his presence in politics.

Leadership Battle in Maoist Center

The remarks highlight the growing internal conflict within the Maoist Center. While Janardan Sharma has been advocating for a leadership change, Prachanda remains firm on continuing his leadership, signaling a brewing power struggle within the party.
